A young man from Romford has been arrested by Essex Police following their pursuit of a car linked to an aggravated burglary.

A grey Jaguar F Pace allegedly failed to stop for officers in Runwell, Essex, at around 7pm on Tuesday (July 25), Essex Police said.

According to a force spokesperson, a subsequent police chase followed and the car stopped in Billericay. 

A 19-year-old Romford man was arrested, they added.

The police identified that the vehicle was linked to a burglary that took place on Wednesday (June 28) in Barnston, an Essex village.

That day three men allegedly broke into an address, threatened a person inside and stole an off-road bike.

The Jaguar itself was allegedly stolen on Saturday (June 22) in Ashingdon Road, Rochford.

The arrested man is now in custody and is being questioned on suspicion of dangerous driving, aggravated burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, and failing to stop when directed.
