Three people have been arrested after a man was found dead in Sheerness.

A man was discovered with a gunshot wound in Fourth Avenue at 9.40am on Sunday (June 11).

After police responded, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

At around 1pm on the same day, a man aged in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of murder.

He currently remains in police custody.

Two further suspects, a 42-year-old man from Sidcup and a 33-year-old woman from Greenwich, have since been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.

Detective Inspector Adam Marshall of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate said: “We are continuing to appeal to drivers who may have been in this area, between 7.30pm and 9pm on Saturday 10 June, to check for any dashcam footage which may assist our investigation.

“It is important we identify the movements of people or vehicles in the Warden Road and Fourth Avenue areas, within this period.”

A spokesperson for Kent Police said: “Three people have now been arrested in connection with a murder investigation in Sheerness.

“Kent Police was called at around 9.40am on Sunday 11 June 2023, to an address in Fourth Avenue, Eastchurch, where a man was found deceased.

“He had suffered an injury consistent with a gunshot wound.

“At around 1pm on the same day, a man aged in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of murder and he remains in custody.

“Two further suspects have since been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder - a 42-year-old man from Sidcup and a 33-year-old woman from Greenwich, London.
