A row of terraced houses were left gutted after flames tore through them.

Ten fire engines and 70 firefighters were scrambled to Moss Hall Grove in North Finchley after a fire broke out just after 10.30am this morning (June 8). 

A row of four terraced houses was alight and extensive damage has been caused, London Fire Brigade said.

Crews used a 32m turntable ladder to help tackle the fire, which was brought under control by 12.55pm.

One house was completely destroyed by the blaze.

The ground floors of two adjoining houses were gutted by the fire, with most of the first floors damaged by flames.

The roof of a fourth property was also partially damaged and the gardens of all the properties were damaged.

Eight people left the houses before firefighters arrived, and around 30 people were evacuated from surrounding properties.

There have been no reports of any injuries at this time.

Moss Hall Infant School is on the same road as the blaze.

LFB said firefighters are likely to remain on scene throughout the afternoon and road closures will remain in place.

The Brigade's 999 Control Officers received 42 calls from members of the public and used 999Eye to live stream the blaze from a smart phone to screens in the control room, to allow greater visibility of the incident.

Callers were asked if they would like a live video stream of the scene using their smartphone.

In these cases control officers send 999 callers a text message with a secure, one-time-use link that opens a live stream direct from the phone to the control room.

An LFB spokesperson said: "999Eye provides better situational awareness and allows us to offer the best advice based on live footage."

The Brigade was called at 10.37am and had the fire under control by 12.55pm.

Crews from Hendon, Southgate, Mill Hill, Hornsey and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
