A 23-year-old Hounslow man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was set alight in Templedene Avenue, Staines.
The victim, in his 20s, was attacked about Saturday about 11.20pm.
He remains in a critical condition in the specialist burns unit at East Grinstead Hospital.
Police said the Hounslow man was arrest shortly after 4pm yesterday.
Officers expect to interview this morning.
Police are still appealing for witnesses - particularly anyone who saw a slim man wearing dark clothing running away from the scene shortly after the assault.
He ran down an alleyway leading from Templedene Avenue towards Berryscroft Road, Arnold Road and Elizabeth Avenue.
