Firefighters are currently tackling a fire at a spa with flats above in Deptford.

The Brigade was called at 6.06am to a fire on Creek Road.

Part of a spa room on the first floor of a 12-storey building, with a fitness centre and flats above, is on fire.

There has been no reports of any injuries at this time.

A 25 metre cordon is in place as a safety measure.

A road closure is in place on Creek Road by the junction of Deptford Church Street, which is currently causing significant traffic delays.

People are asked to avoid the area where possible.

Crews from Deptford, Greenwich, New Cross, Lea Green, and surrounding fire stations are at the scene.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: “Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters have been called to a fire on Creek Road in Deptford.

“Part of a spa room on the first floor of an 12-storey building, containing a fitness centre and flats, is alight.

“There have been no reports of any injuries at this time.

“A 25 metre cordon is in place as a precaution. A road closure is in place in Creek Road by the junction of Deptford Church Street, which is causing significant traffic delays. People are asked to avoid the area where possible.

“The Brigade was called at 0606. Crews from Deptford, Greenwich, New Cross, Lea Green and surrounding fire stations are at the scene.
