A 16-year-old boy has been taken to hospital after a stabbing in Blackheath.

The boy was found injured in Blackheath Grove at 4.20pm yesterday (April 1).

Officers and London Ambulance Service crews were called to the scene.

He was taken to hospital where his condition was assessed as not life-threatening.

His next of kin have been informed. 

Police enquiries found he sustained his injuries after an incident on a bus in Lee High Road.

No arrests have been made and enquiries into the circumstances continue.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call police on 101 and quote reference CAD4893/1Apr.

Information can also be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: "Police were called at approximately 16:20hrs on Saturday, 1 April to reports of a male suffering stab injuries in Blackheath Grove, SE3.

"Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and the male, believed aged 16, was taken to hospital for treatment; his injuries are not life-threatening.

"His next of kin have been informed. Early enquiries have established that the male sustained his injuries after an incident on a bus in Lee High Road, SE12.

“There have been no arrests; enquiries continue.
