Once or twice a year, Burntwood school come together to celebrate the various different cultures displayed in the school. They do this by creating a culture week, where all different cultures are showcased to the school in different activities throughout the week. 

On monday, the school educated with a quiz during registration on the varying different languages displayed at Burntwood. There was a quiz every registration of different aspects of culture, such as the different religions and different musical instruments shown in cultures, as well as the different languages spoken.

On tuesday, the School hosted the Burntwood Dash, a race where you can represent your country and go against others in a sprint to see what country comes out ontop. Aswell as this, an eid craft making session was held at lunch in a classroom. With this, you can post your eid cards in a red letterbox to your friends, where it will be given out at the start of the next term.

On wednesday, a show of cultures  was shown at lunch which consisted of south Asian dance, singing, and a show of african dance performances. There had been a big turn out, the whole school watching and appreciating the different cultures burntwood has to offer. 

On thursday, the Burntwood language department created a scavenger hunt to be done during lunch. It was to be done in teams of four. Each clue had a word in one of the ten most common languages spoken by burntwood students and a flag to help work out what language it is. To decipher the clue, participants needed to use their fellow students to decode the word, and once solved, it would lead you to the next clue on the site. For a chance to win, teams had to complete the clue sheet by the end of lunch and give it in to the abassadors.

On friday, to truly celebrate the diversity of burntwood school, a multi-cultural fashion show was held; students being allowed to swap out the uniform for their cultural clothes. All students were allowed to wear their clothes, but some students were encouraged to enter the burntwood fashion show runway, a stage set up in the main assembley hall so those taking part can strut down the walk-way.

This week was a perfect way to showcase the amount of diversity and different, unique cultures displayed, especially for those who felt their culture isnt shown usually.
