Climate change and the impacts it brings

A current environmental catastrophe that threatens both people and animals is human-accelerated climate change. We are already observing effects of the planet being 1°C warmer than pre-industrial levels, including as severe weather, rising sea levels, and thinning Arctic Sea ice.

The probability of drought, flood, wildfires, food shortages, and poverty for hundreds of millions of people would drastically rise if this threshold is exceeded by even a half degree. It will also hasten the loss of biodiversity and the extinction of species. Climate collapse might be devastating if the planet continues to warm.

The main causes of climate change

Using fossil fuels, including coal, oil, and gas, to provide energy and power transportation is the primary contributor to climate change.

This releases heat-trapping pollutants known as greenhouse gases into the atmosphere together with other human activities like clearing forests and farming, warming the globe and upsetting the climate.

To maintain a stable climate and a world that is safe for everyone, human activities that produce greenhouse gases must be quickly reduced to the absolute minimum.

Impacts to wildlife

Although it is a worldwide problem, the consequences of climate change are already being seen locally. Although no single weather occurrence can be directly linked to climate change, this region of the world will have milder, wetted winters and warmer, drier summers. Extreme rainfall events and more frequent storms are also predicted to be brought on by rising sea levels.

These are significant changes. An overview of the effect they will have on wildlife is difficult to provide. Most plant, insect, and animal species have evolved to survive and even thrive in certain habitats and environments. These species and people that depend on them for food, pollination, or shelter are probably going to have a hard time surviving when climate change brings about significant changes and swings in these situations.

Let's decrease environmental impact

wherever feasible, choose foods that are produced and acquired locally.

Reduce your meat consumption and make sure that the meat you do consume is grass-fed and locally produced.

Set yourself a wildlife garden and produce some food for yourself.

whenever possible, consider using public transportation, cycling, or walking instead of driving.

Take fewer flights, especially short-haul ones.
