When we think about health, we often think about our physical health, the condition of our bodies and whether the presence of disease affects us.

What we sometimes don’t realize is the actual definition of health, as the World Health Organization (WHO) defines it, is ‘a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease and infirmity’.

Two out of the three things that are defined under health are something that I certainly have not prioritized, mental, and social wellbeing. And I know I am not alone.

Studies show that while 95% of people understand the importance of mental health, only 26% prioritize it.

This is alarming considering that around 1 in 4 people in the UK experience mental health issues each year and rates of suicide in 2021, where 6.9% higher then in 2020.

There is no cure-all for mental health issues, but how about we all try to do something to help ourselves, I know February is not normally the time to start New Year’s Resolutions, but let’s try our best.
