1 The Grand National

Date: April, 15

The Grand National is always one of the biggest events in the country. Some go for the glamour and VIP hospitality experience, some are drawn in by betting and others just love the sport for what it is - a fast paced, no holds barred dash to the finish line.

With the first ever Grand National taking place in 1839, this year marks the race's 175th anniversary, so it promises to be extra special. Can Noble Yeats make it two in a row, or will there be some stiff competition from the likes of Any Second Now?

2 Women’s World Cup

Dates: July 20 - August 20

After the resounding success of our Lionesses in the women’s Euros last year, it should come as no surprise that they are the favourites to take the World Cup this year- along with the incredibly skilled USA.

It’s safe to say the nation has embraced women’s football, and the Lionesses have the support of millions around the country going into this competition.

3 Men’s Rugby World Cup

Dates: September 8 - October 28

France is hosting this year’s iteration of the World Cup for the first time since 2007.

While South Africa's Springboks arrive as champions, England, ever the underdogs, will have a fight on their hands to make it out of the group stages, but never discount the Red and Whites or their fighting spirit.

If you can’t make it to France, there will be plenty of incredible events happening across the UK so you can get involved in the action.

4 The Tour de France & Tour de France Femmes

Dates: Men's July 1-23; Women's July 23-30

The Tour de France is one of the most well-known examples of extreme sporting skill and endurance.

Mark Cavendish will try to break the all-time stage victories record, however this may be difficult for the sprinter as this year's tour is particularly mountainous.

We will see the second edition of the Tour de France Femmes this year as well, after a stunning debut tour in 2022 following years of female riders petitioning for a race of equal calibre. Will a new star emerge or will Annemiek van Vleuten make it a double?

5 Formula 1 World Championship

Dates: March 5 - November 26

After two thrilling championship battles in 2021 and 2022, and Mercedes AMG, Ferrari and Red Bull racing vying it out for the Driver's and Constructor's titles, Max Vertappen has emerged as a two time World Champion.

However the Belgian will need to prove himself against stronger competition this year, and Britain's Lewis Hamilton needs to show everyone he’s not past his best.

Make sure you don’t miss the reintroduction of the Las Vegas Grand Prix on November 18- it will be a pretty special event. The night race on the actual Las Vegas Strip will be a thrilling battle for glory, under the neon lights.

6 Wimbledon

Dates: July 3-16

With all fingers and toes crossed, Andy Murray will be able to make an appearance- although he’s not a favourite to win. Djokovitch and Nadal are expected to battle for the title, but a new name could swoop in and get a hand on the stunning trophy- Stefanos Tsitsipas perhaps?

7 Cycling World Championships

Dates: August 3-13

In a huge first for cycling, the UCI World Championships will unveil the largest ever cycling event with 13 world championship titles, seven categories and 11 days of incredible action.

This is a major step for the cycling industry which has seen exponential growth since the pandemic. You’ll be able to see the biggest names in the business race on dirt, tarmac and gravel, down unbelievably steep hills and over massive distances.

There will be massive ramps, dirt jumps, skate parks, velodromes, high speeds and incredible competition- all delivered during this celebration of two wheeled excellence.
