The carbon council was established by Newstead Wood as their first move toward their objective of becoming carbon neutral by the year 2030. However, in order to do that, they have as their first objective the purchase of equipment that will lower the school's energy use, helping balancing the school's carbon emissions.
In order to reach this the Carbon council started by organising their first event, selling a wide range of things, all being sustainable in some kind of way.
-There was food stalls with food which were all low- carbon recipes.
-Second hand book stalls, which were free or a low price.
-There were second clothes as well.
-Competitions to win plushies etc.
The idea for this fundraiser was excellent and sustainable. By not only supporting the school's effort to go carbon free by donating to its carbon-free plan, but you also receive a free book or some extra clothing for a low cost.
In the end the event was a success, nonetheless everyone had fun on their Friday lunch.
