A man has been arrested after rail staff were assaulted and threatened with a knife at a Bromley train station.

Police were called at around 5pm yesterday (January 27) and a man was arrested after getting off the train at Bromley South.

Officers seized the knife following the attack.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "We received a report of a man assaulting a member of rail staff at Bromley South station at 4.50pm on Friday 27 January.

"Officers attended with colleagues from the Metropolitan Police and a 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of common assault.

"A knife was also located at the scene and the man was further arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon.

"He has since been released on conditional bail and enquiries are ongoing."

Bromley Town Centre Police tweeted: “Bromley Town Centre officers have arrested a male at Bromley South Train station after he assaulted rail staff and threatened them with a knife.

“The knife has been recovered, and victims are being supported. Great Work Team!”
