As the holidays approach, one of the many things you can do in London is visit the theatre. The West End has countless amounts of plays you can watch, one being the remarkable 'WICKED' the musical.

The wondrous story is based upon 'The Wizard of Oz' which many are familiar with, except instead of portraying Dorothy's experience, it focuses on another side of the story. The play shows Glinda the Good: a blonde, young and popular girl meet Elphaba, The Wicked Witch of the West. However, Elphaba is far from wicked; instead, she is a young, green girl who is misunderstood in the Land of Oz, only wishing to remain brave and true to herself. The two young women, who are not fond of eachother at first, begin to grow a strong bond and unbreakable friendship throughout the play as they battle the obstacles before them.

The storyline for me was intriguing and adventurous, and watching the bond between Glinda and Elphaba was definitely heartwarming. Without a doubt, the entire play is captivating, and it is as if you have entered the Land of Oz as you watch the events play out. Furthermore, the special effects used in 'WICKED' are astonishing as they immerse you into the world - it brings the magic in Oz to our reality. It was amazing to see the Wonderful Wizard's magic be brought to life and the effort put into the entire play as a whole was impressive. The songs in the musical are just as beguiling as the rest of the play: they truly make you feel the emotions of the characters and the performances overall leave you awestruck as you leave theatre.

'WICKED' is a play I highly recommend in the West End. If you are looking to make amazing memories and have a great experience with theatre, I strongly suggest it; especially for your young ones! The play based on Gregory Maguire's novel is definitely worth seeing. To buy tickets, head on over to the 'WICKED' website, where you can find out more about the magical musical.
