A new paving area and repositioning of a World War One silhouette are among the proposed upgrades to Brentwood’s war memorial as part of a public consultation.
Brentwood Borough Council is seeking the views of residents as it looks to improve the surroundings of the Middleton Hall Lane war memorial.
The proposed changes include removing the current paving around the memorial and replacing it with a large circular paving area.

Two other memorials - the post-World War Two memorial and the VC memorial - plus the 1914-1918 commemoration benches, would also be relocated to the corners of the plot, with the World War One silhouette moved within a bed of poppies or other planting.
Brentwood Borough Council leader Chris Hossack said the plans would ensure the memorial, which was established in October 1921 with donations from residents, “remains central to our borough and accessible to all”.
He added: “It is only fitting that once again our residents have their say on the proposals."
