During a stunning visit to Eltham Palace at Christmas, you are met by a captivating array of bright colour and mixed shapes. Whether this was walking through colour changing squares, that feels like an optical illusion or peering over the bridge to look at the brightly lit flowers, this light show was the perfect Christmas pastime to spend time walking and talking with family and friends.

A big part of Christmas is community and this Palace was full of people coming together, taking time to enjoy some precious moments with family and meeting new people within this beautiful historical building on my own door stop. Personally, I went with my parents and twin brother but others were with friends, careers, grandparents, children and more. Smiles were stretched wide across all faces and the sounds of laughter and gasps of awe at the magnificent lights on display. There was a small café in the middle of the walk and at the entrance of the Palace which sold Christmas favourites like mulled wine and hot chocolate, so parents and children were suitably happy. Something that I thought was particularly fun was the marshmallows sold. This was because there was a fire,  safely lit, inside a huge cauldron where s’mores could be made to eat and share and giggles of excitement from young children made this experience even more special and welcomed in that Christmassy feeling.
The brilliantly bright light show was not the only fun to be had. There was as a mini funfair which made for a pleasant surprise at the end of the journey. Rides like the Ferris wheel and teacups were in full flow, as well as kiosks for sweets, drinks and tacos. This just added to the fun and even adults were having a go on the rides. At the start of the journey there was a small giftshop filled with Christmas ornaments, chocolates, perfumes and more.
Christmas classics like ‘Last Christmas’ and ‘All I want for Christmas is you’ could be heard as well as many people wrapping warm, as it was after the sun had set and was much cooler which made the whole experience even more ‘Christmassy’. It was wonderful to spend some quality time with my family and it was apparent that many other felt the same. Enchantment at Eltham Palace did its job wonderfully, by spreading Christmas cheer and putting smiles on everyone’s old and young, faces
