Near the end of 2022, the start of Winter was seen. The temparature drops, icy floors and of course the snow we've seen.

The start of Winter paved the way for Coombe Wood School's Winter Showcase. This was a combination of performing arts including acts from: dance groups, theatre troupes, musical solos, bands and more. The showcase took place on the 7th of December at 6:00 pm in Coombe Wood School. Pressure was high as we were told the audience was a full house- 200 people came to see their friends and family perform. But that didn't disheart anyone- every single act went extremely well.

I took part in 3 theatre acts of the play 'The Snow Queen'. This was about an old myth kidnapping someone's best friend, and she had to go on a journey to find him. I also sung Born For this, By the Score. Some of the other acts included: a drummist playing 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' by Nirvana and a year 7 choir singing 'Merry Christmas Everyone'.

My favourite act had to be a dance choreographed by two year 10 GCSE Dance students based on 'Matilda: The Musical'. The choreography was based off the song 'Revolting Children' and this choreography was taught to a group of year 7 students. The dance was performed very smoothly and it was clear they worked hard on it. I'm sure they even struck some fear into teachers.

"They were difficult, but we got through to them and the year 7s were very talented. I'm proud of them." - Ruby Snowling, one of the choreographers of the Matilda dance

Additionally, backstage was a great place to be. It was filled with encouragement and teamwork. Overall, it was a joyous occasion and it's no secret that everyone did amazingly.
