We all remember walking into a toy shop as a child, seeing everything surrounding us. The shelves stocked with products we could only dream of. Hearing the scanners beep and people walking through the aisles. But this has changed over the years. Recently, people have just been scrolling through products on their devices. The introduction of online shopping has made many lives easier and more convenient. Everyone can agree that it helped greatly during the pandemic. However, the usefulness of online shopping has turned heads away from local shops and businesses.

Gordon's Toys & Stationary has been in Addiscombe for a very long time. They have been selling products to the locals of Addiscombe, managing to stay in business, despite the pandemic. This isn't surprising, considering how long they've been in Addiscombe, but it is worthy of praise.

"I'm very glad Gordon's hasn't closed down. I've been going there since I was young, getting good quality products for reasonable prices." - James McDonald, a local 14-year-old boy who has grown rather fond of the shop.

Gordon's has been shaping childhoods, with most of their products target demographic being children. Stationary for schools, toys for gifts and more. This has been successful so far, but (like everyone has) affected by Covid. Nevertheless, this didn't stop the local business. Since the lockdown was lifted, work has been in their favour. The locals are receiving good products once again.

But even so, online shopping is appealing to many, many people. This might leave some lasting effects on local businesses. Although locals are holding their own and getting by, more help would be great for them. Maybe the next time you do some online shopping, consider getting it from a local business.
