From railway and tube stations, to the Thames at sunset, and rainwashed Soho streets, John Duffin captures the unique beauty and energy of the capital.
He shows new work at Catto Gallery in Heath Street including views of London landmarks Wembley Stadium, The Old Vic and Ronnie Scott's.
Influenced by cinema, graphic novels and figurative painting, his background in architecture means buildings often dominate the work - but like Lowry and Edward Hopper, the eye is drawn to the souls who populate these cityscapes.
He said: "The show comprises works made during the last two years in London and brings my distinctive use of colour and draughtsmanship to bear on many aspects of London life.
"The paintings and prints are the result of drawings made on site in front of the subject and then re-imagined in my studio to try and create the sense of place that these views hold for many Londoners. The works are a celebration of the city and the social life we all lead here."
John Duffin New Collection runs at Catto Gallery, 100 Heath Street from December 4-22. https://cattogallery.co.uk/artists/john-duffin/
