King's Cross all-day cafe bar Morty & Bob’s is expanding into north west London with a restaurant in Kensal Rise.

The family owned independent, which has outlets in Coal Drops Yard and Westfield, Shepherd's Bush, serves everything from morning coffee and brunch through to dinner and cocktails.

From Monday (December 5) the College Road eaterie will be serving up British and American-influenced dishes and light plates. Brunch from 10-4pm includes smoked salmon bagels, confit duck hash with fried egg, and brunch buns stuffed with bacon and scrambled egg. This Is Local London: Morty & Bob's famous grilled cheese sandwichMorty & Bob's famous grilled cheese sandwich (Image: Courtesy of Morty&Bob's)

Lunch includes their famous grilled cheese or weekly sandwich special with soup of the week or seasonal salad for £10. Dinner options range from a grain bowl and greens, to salmon fillet and lentils, burgers, steak, pasta and chicken schnitzel.

Ice-cream from Hackney gelato, warm choc chip cookies, and fresh donuts should hit the dessert sweet spot, while beers are by Camden Brewery and eco-friendly keg wine from East London's Uncharted Wines.

With two outdoor heated terraces, counter seating at the bar, farmhouse tables and leather and polished wood decor, owner Charlie Phillips is striving for a welcoming, relaxed backdrop for neighbourhood life and the perfect spot for evening drinks and dinners.

The former chef and cookery programme TV producer started out with a street food stall in Hackney's Netil Market, and named his business after the two hardworking grandads who inspired his love of food.
