On Friday 11th November and Saturday 12th November, Students of secondary education and further education gathered at the Olympia London to attend the ‘What Career & What University’ event.

On either Friday or Saturday, or both, students visited the event with their school and/or friends to gain more insight into higher education. Furthermore, students were able to meet professionals from many companies such as Jaguar Land Rover, the CBRE and even the NHS. Therefore they were able to network and share their own aspirations as well as learn more about a multitude of companies.

Over 40 universities arrived across the two days including Loughborough University, Lancaster University and University of Bath. These universities discussed undergraduate courses (and showcased a board with all the courses that they take) , life at their university and more.

The event also offered alternative pathways to university such as more information about apprenticeship opportunities, like apprenticeships at the EY. Furthermore, the event allowed students to have a 1:1 meeting with a careers advisor for those students who wanted more insight into career opportunities. Throughout the event, there were talks; this allowed for students to listen to a professional and ask questions at the end.

Aside from the university opportunities, the event was full of fun and enthusiasm. Students could meet other students who shared similar interests, there was music, games and freebies. For example, some students played the wire loop game in an attempt to win a free bottle of Coca-Cola, or some students spun a wheel to either win a prize, fact or myth about the EY.

Overall, the event was educational and enjoyable, students could collect tote bags and undergraduate prospectuses and hopefully have a broader understanding about their future.
