Sick, insane, raw. Just some of the words people on social media are using to describe the atmosphere of 25-year old singer Arabella Latham’s - known by her stage name Baby Queen - last concert. Hosted at Heaven in London on November 1st, the show was a celebration of queer joy and was described by the star herself as “an international party”.

Baby Queen began her journey in 2020 with the release of her debut single, “Internet Religion” but enjoyed a rapid rise to fame after writing “Colours Of You” for the hit-Netflix show, Heartstopper with songs such as “Want Me” and “Dover Beach” featuring on the soundtrack. Two Heartstopper cast members, Corinna Brown and Kizzy Edgell, were even spotted in the crowd, showing support to Latham. However, they were not the only stars there that night; “Heather” singer Conan Gray was also seen in attendance as Latham had just finished supporting him in his North American stretch of his Superache tour.

Latham’s own supporting act, The Flints, were triumphant in their own right; a blend of disco and pop, the band were able to set the pace for the evening and the audience couldn’t help but to sway along to the Manchesterian-band as they performed “Right Kind Of Love” and “Serengeti” and even sung songs which they hadn’t released yet (which have since been released in their new EP 100 Million Lightyears.

With approximately 1,000 people in attendance, the atmosphere was electric but there was an undeniable intimacy in the room; the room was packed yet the air conditioning that we were graced with allowed you to be as close together as possible without the feeling of suffocation small venues tend to incite. As well as this, there was not one but two fan projects run for the South African-born singer - at the end of the first project, Latham stated that “[the audience were] lucky she was on antidepressants” or she would have started crying and that the song the first fan project took place for, “These Drugs”, was “[her] most honest song” and it’s a song where she “takes pain and makes it into something beautiful otherwise it’s just pain”.

Included on the singer’s set list for the night were “Colours Of You” - made popular by Heartstopper and a crowd favourite of the night resulting in very few dry eyes -, “Want Me” as the opening song to her set, her most recent single “Lazy” and a surprise performance of “Online Dating” at the very end of her encore.

Bouncing up and down on stage, Latham was a joy to watch and sing (or rather, scream) along to; her energy was invigorating and infectious despite Latham coming back out for the meet and greet - wristbands for which were won by the first 100 people in the queue - admitting that she had just thrown up.

In short, Baby Queen's most recent engagement at Heaven felt fitting as it felt like a slice of it on Earth. If the music industry needed saving, Latham rose to the occassion and even came out for her encore wearing her superhero outfit from her music video for "Lazy".
