Since the first lockdown was issued in early spring in 2020, workers have found themselves working stay at home jobs, even after the pandemic restrictions have been lifted. Many companies have continued to only open their offices to employees on certain days or a certain ratio of office hours to home hours and hybrid working which overall, has led to an increase of the population working from home.

Some have found this change exhausting and removes the social element of working in large offices or work spaces and find that the change in environment is “lonely and tiring” according to UK based office worker Neil.

However, the opportunities technologically have advanced the approach employers take to communicate with their employees, messages can be sent with email and meetings can be held online and these new scenarios have fully changed the ideal way for employees to work.

Opinions on hybrid working are varied, flexible work is very valuable for some employees and provides more time for their home life and takes the stress out of commuting yet some finds it adds onto the stress of office work and long for the familiarity of the workplace.

Moving forward, the impacts on the pandemic will continue to impact the way we work, more jobs will become fully online and more jobs will be available because of the growing technological advancement we are seeing today, and overall, more jobs will be accessible for all who have connection to the internet.
