On Friday 25th November I went to Notre Dame School’s musical and just on Friday, 200 people were in the audience, which means many more saw the play overall. This musical was an adaptation from the movie High School Musical which was originally directed by Kenny Ortega. This musical was performed to the lower school on Thursday 24th and to everyone else on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th. In this musical Mrs Graham directed all of the actors ranging from year 9, year 10 and sixth form.

The main characters were; the Jocks, the Thespians, the Brainiacs, the Skater dudes and the Adults.

In act 1, there were 8 songs sung, for example; Wildcat cheer, Start of something new, Get’cha head in the game, Cellular fusion and many more. In act 2 there were 10 songs which were sung, for example; I can’t take my eyes off you, Counting on you, We’re all in this together, Breaking free etc…

For their costumes; The Brainiacs always dress smartly so for the girls: short kilts, blouses with ties or neat collars, sleeveless pullovers, cardigans, knee socks or tights, jazz character shoes. Their hair must be in plaits, ponytails or headbands and for the boys: checked shirts, sleeveless pullovers, ties or bow ties. They must wear glasses and have a lot of books. Sharply and Ryan are the main Thespians so they must have bling and sequins, caps, tiaras and colour themes. All Thespians might wear more colourful versions of their normal clothes for their costumes: flowing artistic skirts, scarves and waistcoats. Skater dudes and girls must wear more baggy clothes; combat trousers, tracksuit bottoms, stripes, layers and baseball caps. Jocks and cheerleader must wear the Wildcat uniform.

I really liked this show and I can’t wait to see what Notre Dame have up their sleeve for their next production.
