American fast food chain Wendy’s has finally opened its doors in Sutton High Street.

It’s London’s newest location and has been long awaited for its famous square burgers. Wendy’s first returned to the UK in 2019 after previously closing all its doors back in 2000. However, Wendy’s hopes to come back with ambitious plans for 400 nationwide stores in the next few years.

Wendy’s has a variety of choices, however in the first week of the Sutton chain being open, the famous chocolate slushy has unfortunately been unavailable. Although, there is a great choice of chicken, beef, and bacon burgers and also ‘The Veggie Stack’ for vegetarians, as well as a selection of fries from cheesy to chilli.

With Sutton’s High Street having the highest percentage of empty shops in the borough, it’s great to see that a new place to eat has opened to revive the high street along with other recent openings like Burger King and Taco Bell.

One of the planning applications, submitted to Sutton Council about the opening in Sutton, comments: “Wendy’s is a well-known burger chain making a return to the United Kingdom after an absence since 2000.”

Overall, the experience is great, however while the burgers are very nice, the service has been reasonably slow, notably on Saturday morning (19th November) when it took fourteen minutes after ordering a single cheese and egg breakfast burger at 10:30am in the Sutton branch despite not being very busy.  Although, this is understandable because it has only been open for a week.
