Code Club held at Sutton Central Library is a fun and interactive club in which children learn to make cool games, animations and lots more. The 1-hour session held every Thursday in the heart of Sutton is a great opportunity for primary school kids to step out of their schoolwork and to enhance their knowledge in the world of coding.  Suitable for ages 7+, come and book your place now.

The great thing about these sessions is that children are exposed to a child- friendly programming platform called Scratch. Scratch is the world’s largest coding community for kids and is a coding language with a simple visual interface that allows kids to develop a love for coding. Programming on Scratch helps children to learn to think creatively, reason systematically and work collaboratively – all skills needed to work in a professional working environment.

Whilst interviewing a father named Patrick who had brought his 8-year-old son Jacob to the session he said, “The session is really good for him as it helps to improve his writing skills and also his logical skills,”.

Patrick also added, “If he is interested, he will definitely work in this industry. We live in an era where everything is about computers,”.

Computers are a part of our everyday life. Every machine or an electronic device that is seen has been coded. Computer programming plays a vital role in today’s society because so much of our world is automated. Humans need to be able to control the interaction between people and machines because machines can do things so much more effectively and accurately.  Exposing children to coding at a young age boosts their confidence and makes them ready for today’s society in order to convert this interest into a successful career in this industry.
