The first train to call at the new Mitcham Eastfields train station will arrive later this afternoon.
Southern Railways and Network Rail have confirmed the first train will stop at 4.09pm, on route to Epsom from London Victoria.
The first train towards London Victoria will be the 4.11pm service.
Mitcham and Morden MP Siobhain McDonagh said: "The campaign to get a station here began in the 1930s and I've been part of it for a quarter of a century.
"The community in Mitcham has done a great job and getting this station has been one of our greatest achievements since I became an MP. I am so proud for everyone involved. We have put Mitcham on the map!"
The long-awaited station will provide a direct service to London Bridge, Victoria and Sutton in 20 minutes and will be closer to Mitcham town centre than the existing Mitcham Junction station and Mitcham tram stop.
