On October 22nd East London Mosque and London Muslim Centre held a fundraiser in order to provide the people in deprived areas the necessities to survive through the harsh winter.

‘One Nation’- a UK based charity organisation - hosted this event. Their aim: to help people suffering in calamities by providing food, shelter, clothing, and other vital resource. They manage projects both in the UK and internationally, determined to help as many people as they can.

The event was incredible; little children were running around having the time of their life, vibrant stalls were set up providing entertainment and food, dozens of families participating in activities that were there. (e.g., face painting, henna, arts and crafts). In addition, businesses were sponsoring the charity event, they set up their own stalls selling their products such as books, jewellery and perfume to support the winter appeal. One stallholder (Ms Kelly) has quoted “I support One Nation. The work they do is fantastic so we need to make people aware to achieve more.”

Previously, One Nation has held events in the past such as the annual Muslim Charity Run, which occurred on the 9th October 2022 in Victoria Park. This event helped raise money for the people who were affected by the floods in Pakistan as well as helping the Syrian Refugees in Lebanon with vital winter aid.

One Nation are hosting more events in the near future supporting other appeals. They plan to present a charity dinner in November as well as hosting competitions for adults and children. More details about these events are available on One Nation’s website.
