The Alwyne Castle has unveiled a new look with revamped decor and extended outdoor bar.

Named after the Alwyne family  - Earls of Northumberland and Lords of Canonbury Manor - the pub originally opened on St Mary's Road in 1851, but was demolished and moved in the 1960s when John Spencer Square was built. This Is Local London: The Alwyne Castle has been revampedThe Alwyne Castle has been revamped (Image: Courtesy of The Alwyne Castle)

General manager Manuel Montoya Franco said the pub retains its traditional look and feel with 10 new jobs created to serve punters: “We’re excited to reveal the all-new Alwyne Castle," he said.

"The work that has been done, in the garden, in particular, has made us a great asset not just for the Islington and Canonbury community, but as a destination site with a garden that will draw guests from much further afield!”This Is Local London: New soft furnishings and a fresh menu are part of the overhaul at The Alwyne CastleNew soft furnishings and a fresh menu are part of the overhaul at The Alwyne Castle (Image: Courtesy of The Alwyne Castle)
