19:17 on a drizzly night on the 5th of November 2022 marked the start of another excellent annual fireworks display with this gripping event lasting near on 20 minutes! The packed crowd showed their huge appreciation with an enormous round of applause at the end, dedicated to everyone who helped make this year’s display a massive success.

1957 started the historic tradition of celebrating Guy Fawkes Night in Carshalton Park with fireworks and a bonfire after. This event always falls upon the 1st Saturday of November and is always a date in the diary for most residents. Wallington and Carshalton Round Table have the goal of making as much money as possible in order to help a variety of local charities and good causes.

With there being no firework display since 2019 because of concerns about Covid, a lot was expected from this year’s event and ultimately, they did not disappoint.  A few changes have been made from the original setup with the major one being the absence of a bonfire. Due to the increasingly serious matter of global warming and climate change, the Wallington and Carshalton Round Table decided against having a bonfire and instead replaced it with a much eco-friendlier alternative of a light and laser show.  This took place before the fireworks and whilst you could vaguely see it from the streets outside, it was intended for the paying audience inside the park – potentially a smart marketing strategy to earn the most money possible for the charities. Having enjoyed the show for this year, spectators are now eagerly awaiting future displays in order to see what the people at Wallington and Carshalton Round Table have got planned for the coming years, especially with the infinite possibilities that the lights and lasers bring.
