Woking sat in 8th after promising start

How has Woking’s season started?

Woking were in 8th before their clash with Notts county. A strong set of results getting wins against Halifax, Solihull, Oldham and Maidenhead in September and early October gave Woking a great position starting off the new season. They are sat on a comfortable 20 points after a promising start to their campaign after a disappointing end to the last season. Woking will look to maintain this momentum with aims of getting a play off place at the end of the season. Star player Reece Grego-Cox will look to increase his goal tally with an impressive 6 goals already this season.

The Visitors – Notts County

Nottingham have had a brilliant start to their season sat top of the table a point ahead of newcomers Wrexham. Prolific striker Macaulay Langstaff has already scored 15 goals this season and is showing no signs of slowing down. The visitors will come to Woking as strong favorites with only one loss all season.

Their fight for promotion is well on its way, with the clash with Woking setting up a great Spectacle of quality football

Woking manager Darren Sarll before the game – ‘It’ll be a game that we have to believe we can win… it will be very tough’

A bright Saturday afternoon saw kick-off at 3 o’clock. With 3267 in attendance it was set for a good atmosphere to try and cause an upset to Notts County.

The match started with high intensity with Woking having a few goal scoring opportunities early on however, an early defensive error saw a penalty given. Rodrigues stepped up in the 9th minute and slotted it away in the bottom left corner, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way. After the goal the momentum started to fade and Nottingham looked dominant. Just 5 minutes later they struck again with a well worked cross being followed up by Scott.

Woking heads started to drop so the next goal in the game would be crucial. To the surprise of the demoralised fans, Woking hit back in the 31st with a strike from Daly, giving fans a glimpse of hope.

However, the quality of the top of the table side started to shine with them putting a third past Woking in the first half, Scott getting his brace. A show of good signs in the first half for Woking, but they were outclassed.

In the second 45, Woking were resilient at the back but struggled to create anything in attack. They managed to get one back in the 87th with a Grego Cox penalty, but it was too little too late.

The game finished 2-3, Notts victorious.
