A man has been charged with robbery and two counts of theft after a man was assaulted in Dartford.

On Wednesday, October 19, two men approached another man near to Home Gardens and allegedly threatened him.

It is then reported that the victim handed over some cash and was assaulted.

One of the suspects was spotted by a police officer in Crayford on Monday (October 24) and was arrested and taken to custody.

Stephen Cottle, of Alamein Gardens in Dartford, was later charged with robbery.

He was also charged with two counts of theft from Dartford shops on Monday, September 17 and Friday, October 21.

The 30-year-old was remanded to Medway Magistrates' Court on Wednesday 26 October, where he was bailed to a hearing at Woolwich Crown Court on 23 November.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: "A Dartford resident has appeared in court charged with robbery and theft.

"On Wednesday 19 October 2022, it is reported two men approached a man near Home Gardens and threatened him.

"It is alleged the victim handed over a quantity of cash and was assaulted.

"One of the suspects was spotted by a police officer in Station Road, Crayford on Monday 24 October.

"He was arrested and taken into custody.

"Stephen Cottle, of Alamein Gardens, Dartford was later charged with robbery.

"He was also charged with two counts of theft from Dartford shops on Monday 17 September and Friday 21 October.

"The 30-year-old was remanded to Medway Magistrates' Court on Wednesday 26 October, where he was bailed to a hearing at Woolwich Crown Court on 23 November."
