'The Banshees of Inisherin' released on the 21st of October 2022 and features a stellar cast of Collin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, Kerry Condon and Barry Keoghan. The film has reached a stunning 99% on Rotten Tomatoes, placing it ahead of the majority of films this year. It hopes to be a big player at next year's Academy Awards so I will be assessing its potential to win Oscars at next year's ceremony.

Best Picture: The most sought-after award is best picture and 'The Banshees of Inisherin' will certainly be expected to be nominated however it has a slim chance of winning due to the heavy competition it will be facing.

Best Director: Martin McDonagh deserves to be nominated for best director because of the excellent visuals, pacing and acting in 'The Banshees of Inisherin'. The direction is one of, if not, the most memorable features of this incredible film.

Best Actor:  Colin Farrell delivers an extraordinary performance which should place him highly in next year's voting. After a remarkable performance in 'The Batman' as well as 'The Banshees of Inisherin', he will certainly be hoping for his first Oscar nomination.

Best Supporting Actor: Brendan Gleeson delivered an extremely compelling performance as Colm Doherty, who no longer wants to speak to his old friend, Pádraic because he is too dull and Gleeson should be at the forefront of voters' minds next March. Barry Keoghan also stole to show as the troubled young man, Dominic, however, it may not be enough to see him nominated for an academy award.

Best Supporting Actress: Kerry Condon was very impressive as Pádraic Súilleabháin, Collin Farrell's, sister. She has a high chance of receiving her first Oscar nomination.

Best Original Screenplay: Having already won the Golden Osella for Best Screenplay, 'The Banshees of Inisherin' is one of the favourites to win the Oscar next year.

Best Original Score: Carter Burwell delivers a beautiful score which helps to carry the movie along however is unfortunately unlikely to get nominated due to the heavy competition.

There is a good chance that 'The Banshees of Inisherin' receives a lot of nominations and quite possibly some wins at the Academy Awards on the 12th of March 2023.
