A 16-year-old boy from Dartford will take on a gruelling challenge as he skydives to raise money for charity in memory of his mum.

On Sunday, Marley Biggs will skydive in honour of his mum who he lost to suicide in 2020.

Marley will jump to raise money for a small UK charity, Christmas for CAMHS, who support children and young people who are inpatient in hospital for their mental health over the Christmas period.

The charity supported him when he struggled with grief after his mum’s death.

The daring teen says he has “always wanted to do a skydive” and has already reached his £1,000 fundraising target.

On Marley’s JustGiving page, he said: “My stepmother saw my struggle and could see through my act and decided to act on it by taking me to hospital where CAMHS were involved.

“CAMHS helped me figure out how I was feeling and how best to help me come to terms with my grief.

“Two years on and they are still helping me.

“Without my family and CAMHS, I don’t know where I would be today.

“I was one of the lucky few who have a loving father, stepmother and family who made sure I got the help I needed, but unfortunately not everyone is so lucky.

“My aim is to raise money for children in my situation that may not have families, some are either in care or refugees, and for them to have as good as can be for Christmas.”

Jessica Boatright, who is coordinating the Christmas for CAMHS gift giving this year, says: “Marley is an inspirational young fundraiser - we are so grateful that he was able to access CAMHS care when he needed it and is now helping to support other young people who need mental health care.

“Good luck with the skydive, Marley - we’ll be cheering you on!”

Tara Biggs, Marley’s Step mum, says: “We are so proud of Marley.

“To do this at just 16, and after all he has experienced, is amazing.

“We can’t wait for the day of the dive.”
