This weekend, was the festival of Navratri! Navratri is an important festival in the Hindu calendar, and this festival is held to celebrate Goddess Durga killing the despised demon, Mahishasura. This year, to celebrate there was a gathering in JFS school hall, where thousands were dancing the in the form of Garba. The atmosphere was electric and the music was being played at full volume to indicate such a happy and auspicious day. Sweets were being handed out to the elderly, children were dancing along and smiles were on everyone’s face. Following the celebrations and dancing, a prayer was held to thank and appreciate God for all that we have. Navratri seemed like a time of great happiness and appreciation. Roshni Shah, a person celebrating among the thousands said, “Navratri is a very holy and fun festival, it is meant to be a festival where anyone can come and have a good time’. There was also many plays and acts from famous Indian plays that were performed, which kept the high intensity up! It was a great night of fun and people are already looking forward to going again next year!
