The new post office in Sidcup has officially been opened.

It was opened by Louie French, MP for Old Bexley and Sidcup, along with postmaster postmaster Mrs. Sangeetha Sivakumaran and her husband Sivakumaran Vinasythan.

The branch, located inside Sidcup Local Express in 5 Invicta Parade, is open seven days a week with a total of 85 hours and 30 minutes of post office service.

The previous branch at 89 Sidcup High Street temporarily closed in June 2019, due to the resignation of the postmaster.

Sidcup Post Office has time restricted roadside parking outside and public transport to and from the surrounding area.

Louie French MP said: “The return of the Post Office to Sidcup’s High Street is really welcome community news.

“I am delighted to be able to officially open Sidcup Post Office, which has restored vital services to residents and businesses.

“I thank Sangeetha and Sivakumaran for taking on the Post Office at their convenience store and I wish them well for the future.”

Postmaster Sangeetha Sivakumaran said: “People have really welcomed having a Post Office in the centre of Sidcup again.

“It is very handy for our existing customers of our convenience store and we have also had many new customers with the opening of the Post Office.

“Many banks and building societies have closed in the area and many customers are coming in to do their banking.

“The Post Office is also open longer hours than the remaining banks.”

Sam Coe, Post Office Network Provision Lead said: “We are delighted to have restored Post Office service to this area as we know how important a Post Office is to a community. The branch’s opening hours make it convenient for customers to visit.”
