A primary school where children “love” to attend is celebrating the best possible rating after an inspection.

Wolfson Hillel Primary School, in Chase Road, was graded ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted when it was inspected over two days in June.

The report said that pupils “love” going to school, and parents are “overwhelmingly positive” about their children’s experience.

In the report, the Ofsted inspectors said: “Pupils love coming to this warm and friendly school, they are extremely proud of their school and take every opportunity to talk about all they enjoy.”

The report also highlighted one parent who told them: “It’s a fabulous school with a strong sense of community.”

The inspection was the Jewish Community Academy Trust member school’s first since headteacher Alex Kingston joined in 2019.

Ms Kingston, who was herself a former student at Wolfson Hillel, said: “I would like to personally thank the team of dedicated staff, our governing body, parents and of course our fantastic pupils. You are all indeed outstanding.”

Safeguarding at the school was found to be “effective” with a new reporting and record keeping system helping leaders evaluate and track even the smallest concerns.

Pupils were especially passionate about money raised for charity, peer mentor training, school council roles, art, and history.

Staff were found to have “strong subject knowledge” and subject leaders are “experts” helping student to use “sophisticated language for their age”.

The inspectors added: “Staff are overwhelmingly positive about the school. They feel part of a community and value the school’s inclusivity. One staff member said ‘everyone is super friendly here.’”

Jewish Community Academy Trust CEO Gareth Jones said: “We are incredibly proud of the hard work from Wolfson Hillel to maintain their ‘outstanding’ school status. This is thoroughly deserved and a testament to the whole school community.”

The school has also seen strong recent academic performance, with results in national assessments the highest they have ever been.

SATs results in Year 2 and Year 6 at Wolfson Hillel were 30% above the national average, which was reflected by Ofsted’s praise for the “exceptional education” and “broad and balanced” curriculum delivered to students.
