A church has received an award for maintaining a foodbank, making deliveries, and just keeping in touch, to support its community through lockdown.

Gospel Temple Apostolic Church volunteers received a trophy at the Enfield Trusted Voices Awards on Wednesday September 28 at Enfield Civic Centre, from Mayor Doris Jiagge, and Councillor Gina Need.

The awards “recognise volunteers who kept Enfield going during the Covid-19 crisis.”

Pastor Jason Young said: “A lot of people couldn’t come in, so we had to do things differently.

"We were going out and delivering food, checking in on people weekly or daily.

“Getting the trophy was a beautiful experience and very special.”

On the same day, one of the church’s foodbank volunteers was also shortlisted for a BBC Make a Difference Award.
