A 27-year-old man has died after being found unresponsive in a park in Eltham. 

Emergency services were called to Vista Field in Middle Park Avenue at 2.40pm on September 21.   

The man was taken to a south London hospital for treatment.  

In a statement issued today by Metropolitan Police said the man has died and his next of kin are aware.

His death is being treated as unexpected.

A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.

The park was closed at the time of the incident while further enquiries were carried out.

A statement issued by Metropolitan Police on September 22: “At 2.40pm on Wednesday, 21 September police were called to Vista Field off Middle Park Avenue, SE9 following reports that a man had been found unresponsive. 

“Officers attended with London Ambulance Service paramedics and firefighters from the London Fire Brigade who assisted with entry to the field.  

“The man, who is aged 27, was taken to a south London hospital where he remains in a critical condition.  

“His injuries are being treated as unexplained and as a result, the park has been closed while further enquiries are carried out. 

“The investigation is being led by officers from the South East Borough Command Unit.” 

In an updated statement issued today by Metropolitan Police said: “The 27-year-old man has sadly died. 

“His next of kin are aware.

“The death is being treated as unexpected and a post-mortem will be held in due course.”
