A PERSON has been taken to hospital after a six-vehicle crash at Dartford Crossing.  

The incident happened shortly after 7.10am today.  

Officers and South East Coast Ambulance Service crews were called to the scene.  

A person was treated at the scene before being taken to Darent Valley Hospital.  

The west tunnel at the crossing was closed as the incident was dealt with.  

Traffic was being diverted through the east bore tunnel. 

Motorists were warned of delays of 60 minutes above normal travel time.  

The tunnel reopened shortly after 9am, according to National Highways on Twitter.  

A spokesperson for South East Coast Ambulance Service said: “I can confirm that we attended the scene following report of a collision shortly after 7.10am today.  

“One patient was assessed and treated at the scene before being taken to Darent Valley Hospital for further checks.” 

A spokesperson for Kent Police said: “Kent Police attended a multi-vehicle collision in the Dartford Tunnel at 7.17am on Monday 26 September 2022. 

“The west tunnel was closed while the incident was responded to and the vehicles involved were recovered.  

“No serious injuries were reported.” 

National Highways (@HighwaysSEAST) tweeted: “The west bore tunnel on the #A282 northbound #DartfordCrossing is closed due to a six vehicle collision.  

“Traffic Officers are on scene and emergency services en route.  

“Traffic is being diverted via the east bore tunnel. There are three miles of congestion on approach. 

A further tweet from National Highways at 9am said: “The west bore tunnel is now open on the #A282 northbound #DartfordCrossing following an earlier multi-vehicle collision.  

“There are six miles of congestion following this incident causing delays of 60 mins above normal travel time.  

“Please all time for these to clear.”
