The cause of a fire which damaged the electrical room of a shop is being investigated.

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to tackle the fire in Bexleyheath Broadway just before 1.40pm today.

The shop has flats above it and around 23 people left the building before fire crews got there.

There were no reports of any injuries.

An electrical room on the ground floor was damaged.

The fire was under control just before 3.30pm.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: "Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a fire at a shop with flats above in Broadway, Bexleyheath.

"An electrical room on the ground floor was damaged by fire.

"Around 23 people left the building before crews arrived and there were no reports of any injuries.

"Fire crews from Bexley, Plumstead and East Greenwich stations attended the incident.

"The Brigade was called at 1338 and the fire was under control by 1528.

"The cause of the fire is under investigation."
