COUNCILS are set to proclaim King Charles III as the new sovereign today.
Following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II earlier this week, Civic Leaders and representatives will gather together to proclaim the accession of the new monarch.
Both proclamations will be held at 2pm and will last around 30 minutes each.
The proclamation in Bromley will be held at the flagpole on the front lawn of the Old Palace at Bromley Civic Centre.
The Bexley proclamation will take place in front of the Civic Offices at 2 Watling Street, Bexleyheath.
People wishing to hear the proclamation in Bromley are requested to arrive at 1.40 pm.
The Mayor of Bromley, the Leader of the Council, and the Chief Executive will assemble at the flagpole and The Mayor, Cllr Hannah Gray, will read the Proclamation to invited guests.
Mayor of the Bexley, Cllr Nick O’Hare, said: “While, like the rest of the nation, I am completely saddened by the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
“I feel overwhelmed that I will have the honour and privilege to make the official Proclamation tomorrow.
“As I stand and read the Proclamation words aloud I will be doing so on behalf of every person that lives and works in Bexley.
“On behalf of Bexley’s people, I wish his Majesty, King Charles III the loyalty, respect and love of everyone in our great borough.
“God save The King”
Both ceremonies will last around half an hour.
