Enfield will be opening up for two weeks of special access to some of its most interesting housing, art, architecture, and neighbourhoods.

The Open House Festival will include events, tours, and open days across the borough.

Available for the first time, the Fore Street tour includes murals created by five artists, each centred around engagement with the local community.

Councillor Chinelo Anyanwu, who is responsible for culture and public spaces, said: “This is an opportunity to explore how public art can reflect an area’s heritage and at the same time, its development and evolution.”

The ‘Our River Lea’ poetry trail explores the significance and impact of the River Lea to life in Upper Edmonton through the memories of poet Keith Mowatt.

Enfield Council has also created an outdoor exhibition called Stories of Enfield, showing the cultural heritage of the borough.

Other places open to explore in the borough include Meridian Water, All Saints Church, Forty Hall Vineyard, a residence in Hedge Lane, Chickenshed Theatre, Royal Small Arms Factory, Myddelton House, King George V Pumping Station, Winchmore Hill Friends Meeting House and burial ground, Former Edmonton Girls’ Charity School, a self-guided tour of modernism in Oakwood, and a guided tour of Enfield Town.

The Open House Festival will run from Thursday, September 8 to Wednesday, September 21.
