A 16-year-old boy is fighting for his life after being stabbed during a fight in south east London.

Police were called to the fight in Nunhead Grove at around 10.30am on Sunday.

A boy, 16, was found having been stabbed and was taken to hospital for treatment.

He is still in hospital in a critical condition.

A 21-year-old man was arrested near the scene on suspicion of attempted murder.

He is in police custody.

A crime scene remains in place at the scene.

Following the incident, a section 60 stop and search order was put in place covering the SE15 and SE22 postcode areas.

This expired this morning.

A Metropolitan Polcie spokesperson said: "Police were called at approximately 10:30hrs on Sunday, 4 September to reports of a fight in Nunhead Grove, SE15.

"Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found a male, believed aged 16, suffering stab injuries.

"He has been taken to hospital for treatment – he remains there in a critical condition.

"His family have been informed.

"A 21-year-old man was arrested close to the scene on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in custody.

"A crime scene remains in place at the scene.

"Anyone with information that could assist police is asked to call 101 or tweet @MetCC and quote CAD 2727/4Sep.
