What a difference 50 years makes? These photos of Old Church Road, Chingford, were taken 50 years apart.
In c1900 the road had a scattering of houses, shops and a farm leading up to the old church on the hill.
By the 1950s the road is a thriving shopping centre with most of the surrounding land covered in housing.
