POLICE have launched an appeal to help find witnesses following a stabbing in Lewisham.  

An 18-year-old man was found with stab injuries at a bus stop in Westwood Hill.  

The incident happened just before 7.15pm on August 8.

Police and London Ambulance Service crews were called to the scene. 

The man was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital. 

He remains currently remains in a critical but stable condition.  

No arrests have been made following the incident.

Police enquiries are ongoing. 

Detective Inspector Spencer Thomas said: “A young man was stabbed – and seriously injured – in broad daylight at a bus stop.  

“I would urge anyone who witnessed this assault to contact us.  

“I would also ask that anyone who was driving in the vicinity and has a dash cam to check the footage to see whether they captured something that could help our investigation.  

“Any piece of information, whether you think it might be insignificant or not, could be vital." 

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 and quote reference CAD 6336/08Aug. 

Information can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information following a stabbing in Lewisham.  

“Police were called to Westwood Hill, SE26 at 19:12hrs on Monday, 8 August following reports of a stabbing.  

“Officers attended with paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and found an 18-year-old man with stab wounds.  

“He was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

“Detectives are appealing for anyone who was in the area, and who has yet to speak with police, to come forward.”
