An oil spill in Rushey Green is causing "extensive disruption" this afternoon.

A crane lorry leaked approximately 300 litres of hydraulic oil onto Devonshire Road.

Multiple roads including Plassy Road, Catford Road and Stanstead Road are all closed due to the spillage.

London Fire Brigade is working to clear the spill and sand is being used to make it safe.

One woman was treated on scene by London Ambulance Service crews and a man was assessed by St John Ambulance.

Police are telling drivers to avoid the area and use other routes.

Lewisham Police tweeted: "Extensive disruption in Rushey Green after oil spill this afternoon, causing multiple causing road closures inc Plassy Road #Catford Road, #Stanstead Road.

"LFB working to clear spill.

"Motorists should avoid area/ use other routes."

A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: "Firefighters were called to a large oil spillage on Devonshire Road in Rushey Green this afternoon.

"A crane lorry has leaked approximately 300 litres of hydraulic oil onto the road.

"Crews are using sand on the oil to make the scene safe.

"One woman was treated on scene by London Ambulance Service crews and another man was assessed by St John Ambulance.

"Five fire engines and around 35 firefighters are at the scene."
