SHOCKING footage shows a huge four-hour grass fire at a park in Thamesmead.
The fire broke out in Gallions Reach Park just before 4pm yesterday (July 24).
Eight fire engines, a fire boat, and around 65 firefighters were called to the blaze.
Three hectares of grass fire were damaged by the fire.
Footage from the scene shows thick grey smoke billowing into the air.
It also shows nearby buildings engulfed by the smoke.
The fire was under control shortly after 8.15pm.
Fire crews from Plumstead fire stations and surrounding fire stations were at the scene.
A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: “Eight fire engines, fire boat and around 65 firefighters tackled a grass fire in Gallions Reach Park in Thamesmead.
“Three hectares of grass fire was damaged by fire.
“The Brigade was called at 1555 and the fire was under control by 2016.
“Fire crews from Plumstead fire stations and surrounding fire stations were at the scene.”
