A 10-year-old girl from Bromley has been invited to join Mensa after an IQ test showed she has the same IQ as Stephen Hawking and Albert Einstein.

Isabelle Spark, who goes to Bromley High School, achieved an IQ score of 160 – putting her in the top one per cent of the population.

Isabelle sat the exam to join the high IQ society at Dulwich College in June, on the hottest day of the year, and was the youngest person there by over a decade.

Lois Spark, Isabelle’s mum, said: “Isabelle’s always been really ahead academically – she learned to read and write from a much earlier age than expected.

“We’d read an article on Mensa and thought it was interesting, but it was more out of curiosity that she gave it a try.

“We didn’t do any prep and there were no expectations or pressure, so we really weren’t expecting such an amazing result.

“We are incredibly proud and delighted for her.”

Isabelle is already starting to look at events and challenges taking place this summer as she wants to get involved as soon as possible.

Isabelle told the News Shopper: “I’m proud of myself and looking forward to the Mensa challenges and forming friendships within the society.”

When she grows up, Isabelle hopes to be an aerospace technologist – combining her love for maths, computing, and science.

She has already won a year five award for computing and a gold maths award at her school.

Lois, 40, added: “Bromley High School have been incredible about it.

“Isabelle spoke to the school in assembly and they did a special session in class to explain to the children what Mensa is and how big of an achievement it is.

“They’ve been really wonderful and it’s given her so much more confidence in her abilities.

“It’s all been really incredible.”
