A male has been arrested following a knife-point robbery in which a mobile phone was stolen outside Erith Post Office.

Officers were called to the Riverside Shopping Centre in Erith after reports of youths running through the centre.

Police arrived on scene and caught a man who was in possession of a knife.

The male was arrested on suspicion of holding possession of points and blades.

Police soon received a call that a male had his mobile phone stolen at knife point outside Erith Post Office.

The suspect matched the description and so was further arrested on suspicion of Robbery.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Response Team from Bexley were called to the Riverside Shopping Centre in Erith after police were called following youths running through the centre at speed.

“Officers have quickly arrived on scene and caught one of the males.

“Upon searching him a knife was located on his person.

“So, he was arrested of points and blades.

“Upon being booked into custody a further call came out that a male had been robbed off his mobile phone at knife point outside Erith Post Office.

“The suspect matched the description and so was further arrested for Robbery.”
