A new Amazon Fresh store will soon be opening near East Croydon Station.

The futuristic, contactless shops have been popping up across London.

Plans for a new store in Ruskin Square were approved by Croydon Council in April.

Now, the American company is looking for staff to work at the shop.

A pair of job adverts were posted in May for retail associates and a lead retail associate.

As the shop does not have tills, fewer members of staff are required.

After scanning a QR code on the way in, shoppers can pick up items and walk out of the store without having to pay at a till.

Technology is used to identify what items customers have taken from the shelves and they are then charged through the Amazon mobile phone app on their way out.

The advert reads: “As a retail associate, you will be the face of Amazon and contribute to a vibrant store culture based on customer obsession, trust, respect, integrity, continuous learning, and fun.

"You will be an integral part of creating a culture in store where yourself and your fellow colleagues are excited to come to work and deliver exemplary customer service.

“You adhere to and maintain regular and punctual attendance, safety and quality standards and follow standard processes while identifying opportunities for improvement.

"You are flexible while working in an ambiguous environment with strong attention to detail, possess the ability to quickly prioritize tasks, multi-task, and a commitment to delighting our customers.”

The role includes helping customers, restocking the shop, cleaning, preparing and packaging food.

It involves weekends and says employees need GCSE-level qualifications but preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s degree.

A sign on the door of the new shop shows it will be open daily from 7am-11pm.

The shop is on the ground floor of one of the buildings of the Ruskin Square development.

The shop will front onto Lansdowne Place and Caithness Walk and there is a service road at the back.
